In a statement, commenting on breaking his criminal silence so late on the human loss and dance of death throughout the state, blinding innocent kids and injuring thousands of youth, Syed Ali Geelani said his inner beast of 2002 Gujrat was still thriving in him despite becoming Prime Minister of India.
New Delhi, Aug 10 The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday took up for discussion the continued Kashmir unrest with Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s absence in the house during the sensitive debate.
While referring to youths pelting stones, PM Modi said, “Boys who should be holding laptops, bats, balls in their hands & dreams in their hearts are ones carrying stones”.
“When Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the prime minister, he had adopted the path of insaniyat, jamhuriyat and Kashmiriyat; and we walk the same road”.
Modi was speaking for the first time since the beginning of deadly clashes that have seen at least 57 Kashmiri civilians shot dead by Indian forces.
“This may benefit some people’s political agendas but what about the innocent youth?” “There is murder of humanity and democracy in Kashmir”.
Talking about the 33-day-old unrest, Azad said things are not flowing from democracy but through the barrel of “guns, pellet guns”. “Our Kashmir is heaven for countrymen. The azaadi that every Indian feels, Kashmir can feel too”.
“Love the people who live there”.
The Congress said that Modi should participate in a debate on Kashmir in the Parliament rather than making statement in public rallies. The Prime Minister complimented Mehbooba Mufti for ensuring that the Amarnath yatra continues despite the “malicious intentions” of a few people. He said a nation moved forward on the strength of its people, their aspirations, and their hard work.
He also urged the central government to extend full support to the Jammu and Kashmir government in dealing with the situation in the state.
In short, Kashmiris are ready to die because they want “Acche Din”. Talking about “70 Saal Azadi – Yaad Karo Qurbani” under which he was on Bhabra visit to pay tributes to great freedom fighter Chandra Shekhar Azad, he said, “freedom fighters have sacrificed their lives and families for the country. A militant is a militant: be it from Kashmir or Punjab”, he said.

The Prime Minister said that the PDP-BJP government in Kashmir and the Centre are working together to solve the state’s difficulties, but some people are unable to digest it and are clinging the path of destruction.
