A Cleveland woman who was found dead in her jail cell tells prison officers she fears for her life in body camera footage released by police on Tuesday.
A day after Jones’s body was discovered, county officials said that they were opening an investigation into the cause of her death, but an initial autopsy did not find any “suspicious” injuries.
Ohio mom Ralkina Jones pleaded with police during her arrest, telling them: “I don’t want to die in your cell”.
At 7:15pm, officers noticed that Ms Jones appeared sluggish and phoned the Cleveland Heights Fire Department. Facing a handful of charges, Jones was taken into custody and died two days later.
Medical staff at HealthSpan evaluated and released her back into police custody at 10:40 p.m.
Ralkina Jones, 37, also gave jailers a breakdown of all the medications she was taking, voicing concerns that being forced off her medication could lead to her death as can be seen in a newly released video below.
She pleaded with the jail officials, explaining how she needed her regular prescribed dose of Xanax, Adderall, and Gabapentin (an anti-epilepsy drug), and detailing how they needed to be properly administered.
Dr. Jeannie Lee, an associate pharmacy professor from the University of Arizona, reviewed the logs for NBC News and said that there was potential for adverse drug interactions and that it appears Jones received double the normal dosage of escitalopram.
Jones was taken to a doctor a few hours after the recorded conversation.
“You can’t just tell me one minute I see my sister and the next day, she dead”.
Even bodycam footage of her arrest, also posted below, shows the cops acting much more professional than the Texas state trooper who arrested Bland.
“Someone’s going to answer to it. If not, everyone’s going to answer to it, because you can’t just do this”, one of her sisters told the TV station.
‘She was the oldest of seven sisters and she was my role model.
Cleveland Heights police say Jones attacked her ex-husband outside of a Save-A-Lot. “She wasn’t supposed to die in no jail her first time going to jail”.

Her family has expressed that they do not know what happened to Jones but look forward to the results of the pending investigations.
