“What happened in Colorado broke our hearts and steeled our spines”, Richards told a crowd of about 400, majority women wearing bright pink like herself. It is unconscionable that less than a week after unspeakable violence, extreme politicians in Congress have doubled down on their attacks on Planned Parenthood and the people who rely on them for preventive health care. “Enough is enough”, Richards said.
In light of the shooting at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood that killed three people and injured nine others last Friday, Planned Parenthood affiliates across the nation hosted events for a National Day of Solidarity on Saturday.
“This is just a moment that has rocked all of our worlds in a way where it’s important for us to spend time together and to heal and to move forward”, she said.
“We’re out here to stand in solidarity with victims of extremism and gun violence, specifically the victims of the shooting in Colorado, so we’re here to stand against extremism, against violent rhetoric, which as you can see has real life consequences”, said Lauren Shuler, a Planned Parenthood supporter.
Police still have no motive and don’t know why the clinic was targeted.
What is known is that none of the clinic workers or patients were hurt.

Stewart was reportedly outside of the clinic when he was shot.
