Ramos ‘100 percent committed’ to Real, says Benitez

Real Madrid coach Rafael Benitez has insisted the Spanish club will retain Sergio Ramos, who has been linked to a move to Manchester United.

In the saga between Manchester United and Real Madrid over the acquisition of defender Sergio Ramos, the Premier League outfit seems prepared to make a sizeable offer for the Spaniard.

Speaking at a media conference prior to the global Champions Cup match against Manchester City on Friday, the former Liverpool and Napoli boss did not dismiss the subject out of hand, choosing instead to hail the Portugal captain’s will to win. “I insist that it is clear for both me and the club that Sergio will be here”.

Louis van Gaal will likely be delighted by the news, with United desperately searching for a new centre-half ahead of next season.

“He is our player, our captain”.

Benitez added: “It’s very simple, De Gea is not our player so nothing to say about him“. Ronaldo was caught saying “Vai caralho (come on, f***!), you only see mistakes from us the Portuguese!”, as can be seen here.

“I hope my performances keep me in the team”, said Smalling on the day before United’s tour game against the San Jose Earthquakes at the Avaya Stadium.

“I’ve been told that he is very demanding and that is a positive thing for a player”.

While Ramos could still be itching for a new deal with Real Madrid, the further it drags on, the more ominous his future in Spain looks.

Ramos has been the subject of an ongoing transfer saga between Real Madrid and Manchester United and the Spanish outfit have already knocked back a £28.6m bid for the defender. “Football is like life, unpredictable, but I think he is key and the club do too”, the Coach said, AS reports.

“I would like for everyone to have the same will to compete and win that he has”.

Real are to play two games in China as part of the worldwide Champions Cup, playing Inter Milan in Guangzhou on July 27 before taking on AC Milan in Shanghai three days later. “The most important is that the team plays what [the coach] wants from us”, he said.
