Although it seemed Van Gaal wanted to bolster his defence with a world-class defender, which would’ve been Ramos, the United manager only tried to sign the Spanish global as a bargaining chip as Madrid tried to pursue David De Gea.

Following the reports that Sergio Ramos is now set to sign a new deal at Real Madrid, one wonders if Manchester United will let David De Gea go.

Ramos has finally put rumors he’d be moving to Manchester United to bed by penning a new 5-year deal with Real.

It was claimed Madrid were stalling on coming up with fresh and improved terms after the player publicly backed Carlo Ancelotti before he was dismissed and replaced by Rafa Benitez. Ramos earlier expressed his dissatisfaction on the Real Madrid board as he openly spoke about the possibility of departure from the Spanish capital.

Despite the fanfare surrounding his signing, Schweinsteiger has failed to impress so far on United’s pre-season tour of the United States.

According to Ecumenical News, Tom Conn unveiled the details of the agreement between Ramos and Real Madrid.

The 2013 Premier League champions will be keen to establish themselves as among the main title contenders in 2015/16, but still look a little short if they can not land a world class central defender in the Ramos or Otamendi mould. I think he will be crucial for us during the season.

Cole said: “I’ve seen people hammering De Gea this morning because he has had an off-game”.
