Ramos: Madrid can cope with Ronaldo, Bale absence

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane on Monday ruled out Welshman Gareth Bale and German Toni Kroos from the Super Cup match against Sevilla.

Awaiting Madrid in the showpiece will be Sevilla, who will feature in the Super Cup for a third successive year.

Starting the new campaign in the same way he finished the last one, Zidane will surely make sure Casemiro continues to play a huge role in not only the Super Cup but every piece of silverware Madrid compete for this season.

Real expectedly has the upperhand even if they are undermanned, but Sevilla could pull off the win in a close match as they had been the fitter team, winning all six of their preseason matches so far.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla says his appearance in the UEFA Super Cup would signify the culmination of a childhood dream. The £100 million move will give Manchester United another star player to compete in the Premier League and try to get back into the Champions League.

“I don’t think [Madrid’s absences] diminish their ability as a whole, although they are missing some crucial players”.

The former Tottenham forward, who starred for Wales on their run to the semi-finals of this summer’s European Championships, has been given an extended break following the tournament. It’s a prize for our work last season and I’m optimistic. However, Zidane doesn’t want to rush: “I’m happy with the squad”. This year we have to show that we are ready.

The predicted result is a 1-0 win for Real Madrid. “When you play these games it is important to win, but the most important is the way of playing”.

“Martin is with us, he has done the preseason with the group and I am very pleased with him”, the manager said of the 17-year-old Castilla player.

“Karim is doing fine, but he did not play our last few games and we will not take any risks”, Zidane said at a news conference ahead of the contest in Serbia.

The attacking midfielder is reportedly a target for a loan to West Ham in order to gain first-team experience, but Zidane admitted that anything can happen.
