Rams beat Cowboys, 28-24, in return to LA
The Los Angeles Rams faced the Dallas Cowboys in their first game in Los Angeles since 1994. The logic behind the move was obvious – the Rams believed they needed a franchise-level a quarterback after throwing a league-low 11 passing touchdowns in 2015, and the team needed to make a splash as it moved to a new, larger market. Goff had two other passes dropped by rookie receivers Pharoh Cooper and Michael Thomas, and the California alum was sacked once.

The secondary showed flashes of potential against the Rams, carried mostly by the great play of CB Deji Olatoye and the solid tackling of Jeremiah McKinnon, but overall there should be concern particularly at the backup safety position.
“It was a great evening”, Rams coach Jeff Fisher said, via MyNewsLA.com.
Against the Cowboys on Saturday, the Rams’ starters struggled to get going beyond the kickoff return touchdown to start the game.
Dallas turned that turnover into a field goal and a 24-7 lead, and Goff looked more comfortable in his second series.
Then, in the second quarter, Prescott threw a beatiful ball to Cowboys wide receiver Terrance Williams, down the left sideline.
Quarterback Jared Goff #16 did not play beyond the second quarter due to a light shoulder sprain he sustained.
Goff gave way at the start of the second half to Mannion – who quickly led a six play-75 yard drive that culminated with his 14-yard TD pass to Chase Reynolds.
Former North Texas linebacker Derek Akunne hit Goff on a blitz, forcing the ball to pop up in the air.
“It’s going to go in my bowling alley”, Bryant said.
For the first four quarters until the last three minutes of the game, the Cowboys played good enough to win. Johnson will be primarily responsible for assignments like this in the future, but Sensabaugh blowing two coverages in one drive is a testament to that.
DeMarco Murray ran for a 71-yard touchdown and rookie Derrick Henry also scored and the Tennessee Titans’ new-look rushing attack delivered an impressive debut in a 27-10 preseason victory over the Chargers. Mannion completed 18 out of his 25 passes, threw for 147 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception per nfl.com. Goff was 4-for-9 on his passes for only 38 yards.
The rookie from Mississippi State shone for the first half of Dallas’ preseason opener at L.A., completing 10 of 12 passes for 139 yards and two TDs, with both incompletions coming on drops by Geoff Swain.
Showers finished 8-16, for 99 yards. Tyrod Taylor, fresh off signing a big contract, threw just 3 passes before leaving the game.
“For a preseason game!” he said in disbelief. So we got all of those impressions. He’s expected to be ready for the regular season. They absolute must lockdown the run defense, though. The Raiders returned to Oakland in 1995 after playing in Los Angeles for 13 seasons.

Usually, Saturdays at the LA Coliseum are reserved for the USC Trojans, but the Rams practiced at their new home a week earlier in front of almost 30,000 fans and will play their final preseason home game on Saturday, Aug. 20 against the Kansas City Chiefs at the home of the 1984 Olympics.
