Rams could be option for Manning in 2016

If Peyton Manning decides Super Bowl 50 isn’t his last rodeo, the Denver Broncos quarterback might be able to find work in the NFL’s newest city. He hasn’t said so publicly, however, and has instead insisted that he hasn’t had time to consider it. Signing Osweiler to a multi-year deal would give Denver a younger quarterback with a higher ceiling.

Where the Rams could really use Manning, though, is to sell tickets.

If Manning does want to come back for the 2016 season, he is still under contract with the Broncos, notes ProFootballTalk. The Rams are moving to Los Angeles without a quarterback but with a talented defense and a potentially dominant running game.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter cited an anonymous league source in his report and also noted why the idea is something of a longshot.

All of this hinges on Manning wanting to play another season of course. “Obviously through the playoffs this year and just watching the games at home, the wife’s definitely heard me yell a few times about a drop or want to know what’s going on”. He missed several games due to injury and then was benched upon returning, though that was very short-lived.

On Sunday against the Carolina Panthers, Manning attempts to become the first starting quarterback to win the Super Bowl with two teams.

As for the Rams, it’s clear they need quarterback help. Nick Foles was terrible in 2015 as well, finishing as the second-worst rated passer in 2015. The Rams have plenty of other issues to figure out, but they can at least offer that.
