Rams have four choices on final day — NFL DRAFT

“With the first pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams select Jared Goff, quarterback California”.

“I’m ready to go”, Goff said.

It was all about the quarterbacks before Laremy Tunsil’s weird tumble down the board at the National Football League draft. Goff owns 26 school records and two Pac-12 records, including passing yards in a season (4,719) and passing touchdowns in a season (43).

“I’m taking it as an honor and something I’m going to have to prove them right, that they made the right decision”, Goff said.

Quarterback Carson Wentz of North Dakota State nabbed the No. 2 draft pick, picked up by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Not surprisingly, Goff was worthy of a top 10 pick, but number one had questions written all over it. The pressure is on for him to excel in Los Angeles with a great defense and run game.

“(Friday) night, I couldn’t get any sleep”, Cooper said.

Wentz said his Eagles teammates “are going to see a competitor, a guy who is passionate about the game, be the hardest worker out there”. “I saw a lot of composure today”.

Hemingway gives the Rams more depth in a tight end position group that includes Lance Kendricks and Cory Harkey. But Wentz played in a pro-style offense, so he’s used to lining up under center, making checks and audibles at the line, and making three-, five- and seven-step drops.

The Chicago Bears, trading with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the ninth spot, selected Leonard Floyd, a linebacker out of Georgia.

This year, Ohio State was followed by Clemson (9), UCLA (8), Alabama (7), Florida (7) and Notre Dame (7) in terms of schools with the most picks in 2016. “He’s the quarterback. I’ve said all along that he’s the quarterback”.

“Somebody hacked my account, man”, Tunsil said.

West Virginia safety Karl Joseph went to the Oakland Raiders with the 14th selection. I see myself as a physical tight end as well.

Top priority is finding someone to catch Goff’s passes.

Weaknesses: Toughness is admirable, but he takes too many hits. Those stats came despite working with a different quarterback in each of his three seasons.

There’s no doubt Goff will be in the running to start as a rookie.

After the QBs got their hats and exchanged pleasantries with Commissioner Roger Goodell, it was an Ohio State parade to the podium.

Boyd was extremely productive in college, racking up 254 receptions for 3,361 yards and 21 touchdowns in his three year career.

Once inside the green room, he would not have to wait long. Minutes later, MS defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche (29th, Arizona Cardinals) celebrated with friends and family members as he joined the reigning NFC West champions. San Francisco selected Joshua Garnett, g, Stanford.

Cam Newton was the No. 1 overall pick in 2011, picked up by the Panthers. He’s the highest offensive draft pick ever for WKU and the first offensive Topper taken since fullback Jeremi Johnson in 2003.

The third round began with the Titans drafting safety Kevin Byard of Middle Tennessee, the first player chosen who was not invited to the 2016 Scouting Combine.
