Rams land No. 1 overall draft choice in swap with Titans

“I’d say over the last three to four weeks, those discussions intensified”. “It’s no wonder why we’re one of the smartest and most respected organizations in the league”. The last time the Rams selected number one overall, they got quarterback Sam Bradford, who nearly led them to a division title in his rookie year before spending the next years plagued by injury. “There’s a player we like and there was a team that was willing to come back (in the draft)”. This trade is a reflection of that goal and Mr. Kroenke’s dedication to assembling a winning team on the field.

Snead and Titans general manager Jon Robinson have discussed the deal since the draft combine, where their scouting departments happened to be next to each other in the suites in Indianapolis. Then, stick around as we pick the rest of the top 10 in Part I of our three-part… The Rams had an absolute abundance of picks from the RG3 trade and have zero to show for it.

This ripple effect can go clear to Day 2 of the NFL Draft process, and the Steelers could benefit from the trade which went down early Thursday morning. This potential trade is highly speculative but certainly worth paying attention to as we approach the draft. “And our roster was at a point where it’s young and has a foundation, so let’s go do it”.

Instead, Robert Griffin III does and I understand the concerns.

The reassuring thing for Los Angeles is that one of those picks was made by the Rams.

That means to move up from No. 8 to No. 2, the Eagles could be looking at shipping No. 8, their first and second-round pick next year and an additional third round pick to get the deal done.

If Goff is, indeed, the first pick of the draft, and if the Browns don’t like Carson Wentz, you’d have to expect there would be a lot of interest in Cleveland’s second overall pick. Now, the Titans have the opportunity to build around their franchise quarterback and make the most of their picks. So I think that really was the only reason we were able to do that – because we had the multiple twos. Much like a play call sheet on game days, you want to have your full play sheet that you can call plays from.

The same scenario played out in the 1983 draft when Stanford’s John Elway voiced he didn’t want to play for the Colts.

For comparison’s sake, the RGIII trade brought the Rams Washington’s No. 6 overall pick in 2012, its No. 39 overall pick that year in the second round, plus first-rounders in 2013 and ’14. Rams now has the No. 1 overall pick and is reportedly eyeing on either Goff or Wentz for QB pick.
