The 25-year-old player, who began serving a four-game suspension on November 9 for violating the National Football League’s substance-abuse policy, tweeted Friday night about his progress. Doctors had to put Bailey in a medically induced coma before operating on him in order to get the swelling in his brain to go down. From a health standpoint, there’s a chance that he doesn’t play.

However, there was some optimism from Fisher, as he added that “based on what he’s done [in terms of recovery] over the last 10 days, he may surprise everybody”. Thomas said Fisher did not elaborate.

ESPN.com’s Nick Wagoner logged what Fisher had to say about Bailey at Monday’s press conference: “Are you asking is there a potential that he doesn’t return to play?”

‘The one thing that gave us hope last night was that we were able to get in touch with Sted at the hospital and there was a conversation that took place.
