Rams return to Los Angeles; Chargers, Raiders explore other options
The compromise- the Chargers and Raiders wanted to share a new stadium in Carson, Calif., and the Rams wanted to move to nearby Inglewood – was approved, 30-2, after the other options did not get the 24 votes needed for approval. The team’s refusal to restart talks prevented what could have been a citywide vote on the proposal this month.

They should have a far tougher time accepting the National Football League and Commissioner Roger Goodell’s outright dismissal of a 400-page stadium plan containing $477 million in initial public funding that followed the NFL’s relocation guidelines to the letter.
Now that the Rams are officially moving to Los Angeles, it’s time for fans in St. Louis to start thinking about who they’ll root for now. Reporters asked him about how he felt about leaving St. Louis.
The Chargers have denied a published report that the team is close to reaching a deal with the Rams to join them in Inglewood, ProFootballTalk.com reported.
Oakland is still in debt from a renovation 20 years ago when the Raiders moved back from Los Angeles. “We’re disappointed the organization has now chosen to abandon that same community, and in particular, the way the process unfolded with the organization failing to make genuine and good-faith efforts to remain in St. Louis”.
Fans of the NFL Rams celebrated the team’s return to Los Angeles. After another negotiating session Tuesday afternoon, Kroenke’s $1.8 billion project prevailed.
The Chargers must notify the league by March whether they intend to move this season.
Kroenke said in a 2010 interview, “It’s not our desire to ever lead the charge out of St. Louis”. The Raiders and Rams both left Los Angeles after the 1994 season. Coliseum General Manager Joe Furin said crews will alter a few things to accommodate the National Football League and fans at the 93-year-old facility. “This needed renovation to a stadium built in 1923 will ensure that the game-day experience gives all fans options to enjoy the stadium’s new amenities while recognizing the loyalty of our longtime fans”. Whether the San Diego Chargers could join the Rams and Trojans at the Coliseum has yet to be decided.

Goldsmith said a downtown stadium, which the Chargers have previously lobbied for, would take longer and face more hurdles than the $1.1 billion facility the city and county proposed in Mission Valley on the Qualcomm Stadium site. In the meantime, they’re expected to play at USC’s stadium, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, according to CBS Sports. Under the league resolution, the Chargers and Raiders would receive an extra $100 million from the NFL to build stadiums in their home markets, on top of the $200 million the league already offers for such projects.
