Rams unable to contact troubled Tre Mason, who was no-show at camp

Los Angeles Rams coach Jeff Fisher said he has not spoken to running back Tre Mason since the end of the 2015 National Football League season, despite numerous attempts to do so.

Tre Mason is not at Rams training camp, and the team has no idea why. Mason was excused from OTAs for “personal reasons,” but the team and coach Fisher haven’t spoken to him since the season ended previous year.

Mason has received visits from the police five times in the last four months following a March arrest, according to TMZ Sports.

It’s probably not a surprise to team officials that Mason didn’t show up for camp, but it still has to be concerning given his recent arrests and the additional police visits.

But now the Rams, and Mason’s family, are anxious about his well-being. Mason wasn’t arrested, but TMZ reported his family is anxious about his state of mind after “a string of weird behavior and angry outbursts”.

“It was our only option”, Fisher said of the transaction, via Rams reporter Myles Simmons. But Tre has made a decision not to communicate with us – not to talk, not talking to his teammates.

The Rams began practice Saturday and head coach Jeff Fisher said the team has been unsuccessful in contacting Mason despite several attempts. He joined the Rams in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft. The Rams selected former Georgia running back Todd Gurley in the first round of last year’s draft and Mason’s time on the field was significantly cut. Mason attempted 75 rushes for just 207 yards.
