Rams Weather Delay, Hold Off Buccaneers in Tampa
Westbrooks’ fumble return extended the lead to 11 points, but Winston brought the Buccaneers back to within five on a short touchdown pass to tight end Cameron Brate with 8:55 left.

At the two-minute warning, the game was delayed due to weather.
It marked the second straight time the Rams had been faced with a delay for a game at Raymond James Stadium. Just as Keenum made history on his opening drive, he also made history with the interception for a touchdown, which was the first time that had happened to the LA Rams since November 27, 1994. Then, the home team added to its points off turnovers after Rams wide-receiver Kenny Britt coughed up the football early in the second quarter. “We’re going to fight as long as we can”.
Yes, the Rams determined that the opposing endzone does exist. Tampa tried for a two-point conversion and failed, so the score stuck at 31-26.
Luckily the Rams weathered the storm and were able to get a final stop as the Buccaneers had a chance to win the game late.
“I was just trying to bait them, get closer to the end zone, ” Winston said. That’s not where quarterback Jameis Winston wants his team to be.
During the latest break, Rams middle linebacker Alec Ogletree said his team simply hydrated, stayed loose and regrouped. “I know the offense wanted to be out there, but it didn’t happen so it was our turn to step up and end the game”. Oddly enough, the defenses played as big a role in putting points on the board as the offenses. Setting Tampa Bay records is nothing new to the up-and-comer either.
Oakland never trailed and took control in the second quarter, scoring 10 points and outgaining the Titans 129-40 to take a 17-3 lead into halftime.
Now, at least, there’s hope. So even though there’s plenty for the Rams to clean up, on both sides of the ball, they made some undeniable progress.
GREEN BAY, Wis. – Aaron Rodgers threw for 205 yards and four touchdowns, including two in the first half to Jordy Nelson, and Green Bay snapped out of its offensive funk before holding off Detroit. Todd Gurley, stifled in the afternoon humidity for much of the game. The Rams also spread around the ball, as Quick and Tavon Austin caught touchdown passes.
Keenum completed 14 of 26 passes for 190 yards, with an interception that was returned for a touchdown.
It was far from a ideal game, though.
Rams running back Todd Gurley finally enjoyed something of a breakthrough, as he rushed 27 times for 85 yards and two touchdowns. Despite that, they put up 37 points against a defense that was overhauled this offseason. “We’ve got to get over that hump”.
“I think we are in a good spot”, Keenum said. (TB) Winston threw for 405 yards with three touchdowns and one interception on 36/58 passing.
-The Tampa Bay defense finally came up with some turnovers on Sunday.
The Rams responded loudly with another Gurley touchdown to give them a 24-20 lead.
Unfortunately, with the momentum fully shifted and the Rams’ backs against the wall facing a 3rd and 11 situation, nearby lightning forced a 67-minute delay.
The Rams’ defense shut out the Buccaneers for nearly two full quarters until Tampa Bay scored with 8:55 left in the fourth quarter. “The next thing to do is come out and play another big game on the road”.
