Rand Paul raises $2.5 million for presidential campaign
Rand Paul’s campaign confirmed on Thursday that it had raised just $2.5 million over the past three months.

That might have been the reaction of U.S. Sen.
The state’s switch from a traditional primary to a caucus, a change heavily lobbied for by Paul, allows him to appear on the ballot for both the Senate and the presidency.
Altogether, this paints a picture of a campaign on life support. Since then, the campaign raised $750,000, he said, and had brought in a half-million dollars in the last week. This week, the campaign rolled out a list of caucus state endorsements.
Gor said there’s been “an uptick across all fronts” recently. A certain candidate has been eyed to be the person who will possibly be exiting. A few reports also indicate that the vice president might be declaring his decision late next month.
Since launching his 2016 presidential campaign, Kentucky Republican Sen. Another Paul aide told BuzzFeed News that the campaign had made a few new hires in the past two weeks.
Nevertheless, Paul seemed at ease when addressing his fundraising figures and bottom-tier position in the polls.
Paul became a favorite punching bag for Trump.
But as things stand right now, Paul makes the main stage only because of the rounding rule.
“Senator Paul has said he’s in this for the long haul”. “I’ve talked about the hypocrisy of Jeb going to an elite Northeastern school and smoking pot, but then not really recognizing himself that the poor kid on the South Side of Chicago has a much higher chance of getting caught smoking pot”. Paul’s campaign has had to fight speculation, too, that he is inching toward dropping out and shifting his focus toward keeping his Senate seat. “So I do not get the sense he’s on the verge of dropping out or they’re really short of money or anything like that”.
Numerous voting blocs Paul is trying to appeal to aren’t a very big presence in Republican primaries, an electorate that skews older and whiter. The close of the fiscal quarter this week serves as a window into the financial health and habits of campaigns. By comparison, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson raised more than $20 million in the last quarter. That’s several million more than he’s raised from donors during his entire 26-year congressional career and almost as much as the $28 million haul of Hillary Rodham Clinton. To put that in perspective, his dad’s campaign once raised million in one day. One group said this week it halted its fundraising efforts for a “futile” campaign, though it had spent little so far this cycle. Another super-PAC, endorsed by Paul explicitly, took a blow in August when two of its organizers were indicted on campaign finance charges stemming from their work on Ron Paul’s 2012 campaign. The other super PACs supporting Paul, America’s Liberty PAC and Concerned American Voters, released statements saying they were still on board with Paul and making good progress.

“The kinds of crowds we’re drawing, the kinds of small donations that are coming into the campaign, the kind of volunteer organizations that we’re putting together has gone a lot faster than I thought it would”, Sanders said Thursday in an interview on the NPR show On Point. He pointed to criminal justice reform as one of Paul’s initiatives likely to gain steam. “He has been more careful about that”, she said.
