Rangers acquire Carlos Beltran
The Yankees continue their rebuild while the Rangers grab one of the best available bats in front of the Major League Baseball trade deadline, as Carlos Beltran is headed to the Rangers, reports Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports.

In the final year of a three-year deal, Beltran is hitting.304 with 22 home runs and 64 RBIs this season.
The veteran switch-hitter is having his best season since the turn of the decade and has parlayed himself into one of the best bats available during this year’s deadline.
The New York Yankees have parted with their 39-year-old outfielder in a deal that will send him to the Texas Rangers. He’s owed the remainder of his $15 million this season and will be a free agent in 2017.
Red Sox-Yankees trades are rare, but they do happen.
Beltran has a limited no-trade clause but can not block deals to the Rangers, according to our Chris Cotillo.
Tate, heading to #Yankees, is a RHP who has a 5.12 ERA in 65 innings at Class A, but has pedigree: Fourth pick in the 2015 draft. He doesn’t run anymore and might be better suited to DH than play in the outfield – and the Rangers can accommodate this – but this is a jolt of power to the middle of the order.
Despite his mixed results in the minors, Tate was considered the best starting pitching prospect in the draft just over a year ago.

And if Beltran accepts such an offer, he would – at age 40 next April – be the Yankees full-time designated hitter.
