Cole Hamels is now an ex-Phillie, but Marcus Hayes of Philly.com believed that Hamels didn’t need to go.

All indicators pointed toward the Philadelphia Phillies trading left-hander Cole Hamels before Friday’s trade deadline.

Cole Hamels is officially a member of the Texas Rangers. Hamels’ trade comes just five days after he recorded his first career no-hitter against the Chicago Cubs. “Obviously watched the no-hitter the other day, pretty impressive. It will be huge for us”.

Blue Jays 8, Phillies 2: Troy Tulowitzki homered and had three hits in his debut for host Toronto. On Tuesday, they traded their closer, Jonathan Papelbon to the Washington Nationals.

The trade signifies an end of an era for the Phillies, who drafted Hamels 17th overall in 2002 and won a championship in 2008 largely because of his arm. Plus a $20 million club option.

The deal is expected to be finalized Thursday after medical reviews. Also, Los Angeles obtained relievers Jim Johnson and Luis Avilan from Atlanta, adding needed depth to the bullpen.

As for the Marlins, it was another familiar salary dump. The Rangers have won six of their last eight games when scoring more than three runs.

Darvish, 28, is out for the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his right elbow in March.

– Atlanta received Olivera, who is hitting a combined. 253 with a. 314 on-base percentage, a. 432 slugging percentage, five homers and 21 RBIs in 49 games for Double-A Frisco. They’re prospects. Baseball America recently ranked them the Rangers’ third-, fourth- and fifth-best prospects.

Outfielders Cameron Maybin and Jonny Gomes could be the next to go.

This may be the rare case of a deal that benefits both sides equally, which seems for a fitting way for the second World Series MVP in franchise history to exit Philadelphia.

In 41 relief appearances with the Phillies this season, Diekman is 2-1 with a 5.15 ERA.

Pittsburgh gave up infielder JaCoby Jones. At an average age of 26 years old, this young Astros team is just getting started.

With the Red Sox on Hamels’ no-trade list, sources confirmed that the organization didn’t view itself as a serious contender for the pitcher’s services in the days prior to Wednesday’s trade.
