Batting leadoff as designated hitter, Choo got hit by a pitch from A’s starter Ross Detwiler that fractured his left forearm.

Now it is being reported that Shin-Soo Choo will have a plate inserted into his forearm and as a long shot, could be available in mid to late October.

Following the pitch from Detwiler that hit Choo, Ian Desmond and Carlos Beltran singled to set up the 10th career slam for Beltre.

Shin-Soo Choo injured his left forearm Monday when hit by a pitch in the fifth inning. Choo was replaced by Nomar Mazara in the fifth inning of the Rangers’ 5-2 win at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas, on Monday (local time). The 34 year-old has only played 45 games (198 plate appearances) this season.

Shin-Soo Choo will make a fourth visit to the 15-day disabled list this season, and they haven’t all come via re-aggravations. Team spokesman John Blake said the injury was similar to one sustained in April by catcher Robinson Chirinos, who missed two months.

Ryon Healy led off the second with his sixth homer to give Oakland a 2-0 lead.

Texas recalled outfielder Ryan Rua from Triple-A Round Rock to fill the roster spot. If this is the end, Choo will finish the season with a.247 average and just 17 RBI. Jurickson Profar looks to be the player whose workload will grow since he can play outfield and has an on base percentage of.328 in the leadoff spot.
