Beltre had beaten the A’s with a grand slam Monday night.

He hit Shin-Soo Choo with an 0-2 pitch. “Having that attitude is really great to see for me”. “I was getting in bad counts and that’s what ended up hurting me quite a bit”.

Oakland had gone 8-0 in its previous 10 games against Darvish, whose only win over the A’s had been the first time they faced him on May 16, 2012, only his eighth game in the majors after the previous seven seasons in Japan.

Oakland left-hander Sean Manaea (4-8) suffered the loss, giving up four runs and nine hits while striking out five in six innings.

All three runners who scored had walked against John Axford (4-4).

“They just got bigger hits than we did”, A’s manager Bob Melvin said. “I don’t know if that rattled him a little bit”. However, Beltre had three-plus putouts and four-plus assists in the same game for the first time since May 13, 2015.

Up Next: The Rangers have the day off tomorrow before playing the Tampa Bay Rays for the first time this season beginning on Friday.

Ryon Healy led off the second with his sixth homer to give Oakland a 2-0 lead.

“I don’t think I’ve pitched 10 games this season so I don’t think I’m that exhausted yet”, said Darvish, who turned 30 Tuesday and will make his 10th start of the season against the A’s. “Obviously, it’s a gut punch, but one that we’re going to be challenged with it, but we got to continue to play”.

X-rays showed that Choo had a fractured left forearm. He left after spending several minutes talking to an athletic trainer and was replaced by Nomar Mazara.

In April, Choo, while also suffering from a back strain, received a plasma injection for a grade three calf strain to quicken his recovery.

The Rangers said Choo’s injury was similar to one sustained by catcher Robinson Chirinos who missed two months for his injury, meaning that the South Korean veteran is likely done for the season. Rua was pulled from a game at Salt Lake City on Monday evening and is assumed to be on his way to Arlington.

“With two lefties coming up, I figured my best shot was to get a ground ball and force a double play, ” Melvin said. He was traded in July and made four starts in the minors – all wins.
