The Los Angeles Angels’ right-hander made what he felt were the right pitches – and they just ended up in the wrong places. They figure the Trout bobblehead will be even more popular.
Angels third. Pujols flied out to right fielder Choo.
Los Angeles Angels’ Kole Calhoun follows through on a two-run single in front of Texas Rangers catcher Robinson Chirinos during the second inning of a baseball game in Anaheim, Calif., Saturday, July 25, 2015.
The Rangers rank 14th in scoring (4.16 rpg), 20th in hitting (.248) and 10th in homers (97), while on the mound they are 26th in ERA (4.29) and 28th in WHIP (1.38).
Delino DeShields capped a three-run rally in the eighth inning with an infield hit that drove in the go-ahead run, and Rougned Odor homered in a 7-6 victory Saturday night. Hamilton. Calhoun singled to left, Kubitza to third. Kubitza walked on four pitches, Gillaspie to second.
Taking the hill for the Angels tonight will be Andrew Heaney, who is 4-0 with a 1.57 ERA in 5 starts this year overall, while at home he is 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA in 3 starts.
And finally, LF Ryan Rua, who had a big double on Saturday, is starting his second consecutive game. A wild pitch from Gallardo advanced the runners, and a single from Calhoun cleared the bases. Chirinos doubled to score Rua for run number three. In the second, newly acquired Angel, Conor Gillaspie singled to left to start the inning. First baseman Albert Pujols registered his team-leading 62nd RBI by grounding out to bring right fielder Kole Calhoun home. He has 27 strikeouts and just four walks in 34 1/3 innings, and has completed the seventh in each of his last four starts. DeShields grounded out, third baseman Gillaspie to first baseman Pujols.
Rangers fifth. Odor was hit by a pitch. He then flew out to right for the second out.
Tropeano retired 13 straight Rangers before the double by Hamilton, who scored from third after Tropeano’s pickoff throw to first got past C.J. Moreland singled to center, Andrus to third. Andrus safe on fielder’s choice and Pujols’s error, Odor scored, Fielder to second.
Shortstop Elvis Andrus began the inning with an infield single, took third base on pinch hitter Mitch Moreland’s single and scored when right fielder Shin-Soo Choo grounded out. It is the lowest spot in which Hamilton has started a game since August 5, 2009 while with the Rangers.
