He will be reevaluated before Game 3 as the Rangers try to clinch the series.

Beltre received an anti-inflammatory shot during the Rangers’ 5-3 win.

Beltre has already been ruled out for Game 2, which is no surprise given the fact it starts 18 hours after Game 1 ended, but his MRI revealed no structural damage and he’s going to be getting treatment around the clock for the next two days with hopes of playing on Sunday night back in Arlington. Of course, he didn’t leave until he managed to get the Rangers a run with an RBI single, but what else would you expect from Adrian Beltre?

The Rangers held a workout at Globe Life Park, but Beltre was not with the team so he could rest. Hanser Alberto replaced Beltre, committing a second-inning error that led to an unearned run, and infielders Joey Gallo and Ed Lucas worked out with the club after arriving from Arizona after midnight Thursday.

“He’s day to day, has made a few improvement, continues to get better”, manager Jeff Banister said after Saturday’s workout. After Fielder’s inning-ending groundout, Beltre tried jogging to his position at third base but came out of the game, in obvious pain. “The news would have to be worse than it is right now for us to consider that”, Daniels said. “In the postseason, you never look at it that way”.

If there’s anyone in baseball I wouldn’t bet against, it’s Beltre.

Asked the last time he had taken a grounder at third base, Chirinos, wearing an infielder’s glove, said, “Every day”. Except for hitting Russell Martin on a 1-2 pitch, Ohlendorf was spectacular in the 14th, striking out Troy Tulowitzki, Justin Smoak and Kevin Pillar. Venable pinch-ran in the 11th for Prince Fielder and stayed in as DH. The Rangers remain hopeful that he’ll be able to return on Sunday.
