Rangers Fall 5-1 to the Montreal Canadiens

Coming off of a three-goal night on Saturday and adding another tally on Monday, Nash is starting to find his scoring touch as he struggled through the first 17 games of the season.

Early Friday afternoon, the 6-time Stanley Cup Champions – Boston Bruins – will be facing off Metropolitan Division leaders – New York Rangers at the TD Garden in the city of Boston for a super exciting icy clash that calls for lots of attention as the overall head-to-head favours New York winning 26 of the 46 games played against Boston.

In fact, Price wasn’t even on the bench for the third. The Canadiens scored three goals in the span of nine minutes in the third period to take home the two points.

Price stopped 22 of 23 shots to earn the victory while backup Mike Condon turned aside all 11 shots he faced in the final period.

Comrade Mike Lines, also of the Caledonia Legion, read aloud the names of the fallen, and also made mention of the veterans who had passed since last year’s service. Montreal went 5-2-2, and Condon had a. 904 save percentage and 2.39 goals-against average, including a 4-0-1 record with a. 937 save percentage and 1.60 GAA in his first five starts.

Coach Michel Therrien said the 2015 NHL MVP and Vezina Trophy victor was sidelined by the same lower-body injury that kept him out for eight games earlier this month.

Speaking of filling in for the injured…

Montreal would double their lead in the second period off a goal from an open Devante Smith-Pelly at the top of the crease, who just came off the bench.

Penguins 4, Blues 3 – Evgeni Malkin scored 1:03 into overtime and Sidney Crosby broke out with two goals to lift host Pittsburgh. The start to this season and the play of both their goaltenders proved exactly that as both have given the team an opportunity to win whenever they’re in goal.

Therrien referred to it as the line’s best performance of the season.

But having those two games and lengthy stay with the Rangers last year sure didn’t hurt in giving him something to strive for in his rehab process heading into this year.

It’s worth noting that in his first full season at centre, Galchenyuk is second on the Canadiens with 52.5 per cent faceoff efficiency.

But the results are another.

Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist also failed to finish the game, as he was yanked after Pacioretty made it 5-1 with a power-play goal at 9:06 of the third period. It’s just there were consequences Wednesday because they slipped up this time against a Canadiens team that is, as Girardi said, “deadly”.

So this rematch was a chance for the Rangers to prove to themselves and their coach how far they’ve come since that 3-0 defeat on October 15.
