Just weeks after acquiring him from the Milkwaukee Brewers, Rangers reliever Jeremy Jeffress has been arrested Friday morning for driving while intoxicated.

According to police records, 28-year-old Jeffress was taken into custody at 5:13 AM and booked at a nearby police station. While in the minor leagues in 2007, Jeffress served a 50-game suspension for testing positive for “a drug of abuse” that was later resolved to be marijuana.
If Jefress fails another drug test, he faces a lifetime ban.
DPD sources say Texas Rangers Pitcher Jeremy Jeffress was arrested by central patrol officers for DWI.
The Milwaukee Brewers traded Jeffress to the Rangers this month.
Jeffress was acquired in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers just moments before the August 1 trade deadline passed – the same deal that brought catcher Jonathan Lucroy to Texas.
We will update this story in the future with any additional news on the charges against Jeffress and how he and the Rangers respond to the situation.
