Ranieri hails dream debut for hat-trick hero Dodoo
Leicester City have handed a full debut to rising youngster Joe Dodoo as they travel to face Bury in the second round of the League Cup this evening. Bury rallied after the break and replied through Danny Mayor but their hopes were killed off as Dodoo grabbed two more in the closing four minutes.

Bury made a double change at the break and gave themselves hope in the 49th minute as Joe Riley’s cross-field ball was nodded down by Tom Pope for Mayor to fire in from 10 yards.
City had created a couple of good chances before the deadlock was broken with Ulloa turning sharply inside the box and testing Walton with a low strike, while Kramaric should have done better when Ulloa’s flick on released Kante.
It looked only a matter of time before League One’s leakiest defence would succumb to Claudio Ranieri’s Premier League high-flyers, who looked a fluid attacking force despite the Tinkerman making 11 changes. But he could do little as Dodoo controlled superbly to smash in a shot off the underside of the crossbar after 25 minutes. “He’s not leaving Gigg Lane tonight!”
Jacob Mellis had the Shakers’ first serious effort on goal in the 30th minute, curling the ball from the edge of the box, but it was easy for Leicester keeper Mark Schwarzer.
City were thoroughly in control in the first half as Dodoo and Andrej Kramaric fired them into a commanding lead.
Flitcroft said: “We have identified some potential targets and I have got a new one now in the boy who played against us on the right-hand side“.
Rose then missed a fantastic opportunity to equalise, pulling a Mellis through-ball across goal.
