Ranieri labels Leicester as Premier League’s Forrest Gump
The German described last weekend’s 3-0 defeat at Watford as the “most disappointing moment in my Liverpool life” and needs a quick improvement if Champions League qualification is to remain a realistic prospect.

Leicester will beat Ranieri’s pre-season points target of 40 with a win at Anfield and if it does that he will sit down with his players to re-evaluate its ambitions.
As Leicester has remained among the front-runners throughout the season, the widespread expectation has been it was a matter of if – not when – Leicester starts to slip down the standings.
“They deserve the run they are in”.
Leicester have won 18 of their last 26 Premier League games (D6 L2) – in the same period, Liverpool have collected just eight wins (D8 L10).
Liverpool were less than impressive against Watford and when it comes to Klopp’s fabled “gegnpress” style, the Foxes have proved that they can press with the best this season. It’s stupid if we have pressure. Why?
Not bad for a player who only cost Leicester 1 million pounds or 1/80th of Gareth Bale’s world-record fee when he joined Real Madrid from Tottenham in 2013.
“We lost important points against Arsenal”. He will want to strengthen, particularly at the back, but should also let the current squad see how far they can take this football fairytale. Goalkeeper Simon Mignolet will require a late fitness assessment prior to the game.
Samir Nasri has a long-term injury because of his hamstring, while Vincent Kompany, Pablo Zabaleta and Fernando should all enjoy full match fitness.
Leicester, meanwhile, only have one loss at home and have a habit of scoring, on average, two goals in front of their own fans every game.
They started the season superbly, quickly establishing themselves as favourites with five consecutive wins during which they did not concede.
It says much about the topsy-turvy nature of the Premier League this season that the most mouthwatering game on offer on Boxing Day pits Liverpool agaisnt Leicester.
Leicester were unbeaten in their last nine Boxing Day matches before returning to the top flight (W4 D5).
“The players are very close to each other”.
“The next game is a big chance”.

The tale of the two clubs and their contrasting fortunes is the biggest surprise in the history of the Premier League. He’s scored 7 goals in 9 appearances in the month of December, meaning it’s wise to put some on money him doing it again at Anfield against Liverpool, because he is that good. Leicester City are one of the three teams to earn a draw at Anfield in 1996.
