Ranieri ‘understands’ Vardy to Madrid
“Not Riyad [Mahrez], not him, not [Jeffrey] Schlupp, nobody”, Ranieri said at a press conference ahead of Leicester’s Capital One Cup tie against Hull City tomorrow. “We’ve conceded a few lately but we were defending like absolute lions and the three points were fully deserved for the second-half performance I think”, he told the club’s website.

Jamie Vardy’s start to the season will inevitably lead to speculation about his future, but perhaps nobody expected this.
For me, though, even if Vardy gets 20+ goals this season, Liverpool should steer clear.
“That makes him so unsafe for the opponent”.
He said: “He is happy with us, he’s happy with his contract and that’s important”.
There is far more to Vardy’s game than just goals, however, and his energy and work ethic would fit right into Jurgen Klopp’s style of pressing at Liverpool, while Tottenham chief Maurico Pochettino sees Vardy as someone who would provide a flawless foil to Harry Kane with his selfless running and creativity. I’ll change a lot, like the other cup matches.
“For the whole team, he’s a catalyst – he sets us off. When he first came in he had a hard first six months but he’s adjusted from stepping up from non-league to the Championship”.
“I (will) ask them when they want to eat pizza”, he added of the promise he made last month.
“We were disciplined, organised and comfortable really, and chances in the game were fleeting”. That was our biggest problem.

Yet Pardew’s team were well below their best and it took 37 minutes before Yohan Cabaye brought Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel into action. “We really need to push now”.
