Raonic stuns Federer, faces Murray in Wimbledon final
Murray cruised past Czech Tomas Berdych 6-3 6-3 6-3 and will play Raonic on Sunday as the British number one bids to seal his second success at the All England Club and third major triumph overall.

The two face off Sunday in the Wimbledon men’s final.
Federer lost in the Wimbledon semifinals for the first time in his career, falling to Raonic 6-3, 6-7 (3), 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 in three hours and 24 minutes on Centre Court at the All England Club in London.
It will be Murray’s 11th major final; he’s won only two so far, including at Wimbledon in 2013, when he gave Britain its first men’s champion at the tournament in 77 years.
ANDY MURRAY has vowed to be “ruthless” in his pursuit of a second Wimbledon title in today’s final.
The match also rekindles the rivalry between tennis greats John McEnroe and Ivan Lendl, coaches for Raonic and Murray, respectively.
Murray will lean heavily on his greater experience against the 25-year-old, who has never appeared in the final of a Slam.
The American sisters beat eighth-seeded Julia Goerges of Germany and Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic 7-6 (3), 6-4 on No. 1 Court.
The two men played in the final of the Brisbane International leading up the Australian Open this year, a match which was also won by Raonic.
“This one always feels a little bit more special”. “I just have to go out there and concentrate on my side [and] do what I can to prepare well for it and see what happens”.
“An incredible comeback for me, really”, the 6-foot-5 Raonic said.
Of course, the remarkable thing about Serena is that she’s already done the double – taking home both the singles and doubles titles at the same grand slam – on nine occasions before, but this would be the first time since 2012 if she (with the help of course of Venus) pulls it off.
“I obviously had the best years of my career with him but there are other people that go into it, as well”, said Murray, whose support team includes assistant coach Jamie Delgado.
Raonic won the fourth set 7-5, breaking the seven-time champion in the final game.
“I guess the tournaments start to mean more to you the older you get, and you start to appreciate the history of the events probably more as you get older”.
Raonic has been taken the distance on two occasions – against Federer and coming back from two sets to love down to beat David Goffin in the third round.
Raonic said his thrilling five-set victory over Federer had not taken too much out of him before he prepared to meet a player with whom he has a 6-3 head-to-head deficit.
He sits emotionless and still life in the players” box, keeping his head while all around loose theirs, underlining just why he was nicknamed “Old Stoneface’ in his playing days.
With that fleeting chance having slipped away, Berdych’s resistance faded and Murray broke twice more on his way to a two-set lead, whipping a forehand pass down the line on set point. There’s not many players that get the opportunity to do that. I think it’s the key to Milos’ game.

Asked whether his leg injury felt serious, Federer said: “I don’t know yet, I don’t even want to know, I just felt not the same afterwards”.
