The Toronto Raptors have officially announced the signing of forward DeMarre Carroll.

Scola averaged 9.4 points and 6.5 rebounds for the Indiana Pacers during the 2014-15 season, starting 16 of his 81 games played.

A strong defender and outside shooting threat, Carroll started 69 games and helped the Hawks to a franchise-high 60 wins and the No. 1 seed in the playoffs last season. He finished third in the National Basteball Association in steals-to-turnover ratio (1.25) and fourth in both two-point field goal percentage (.567, 198-349) and effective field goal percentage (.579).

Carroll has reportedly agreed to a four-year deal worth US$60 million, which would make it the largest free-agency signing in franchise history.

And while the Raptors already have Patrick Patterson signed to a team-friendly deal at a combined $12.2 million over the next two seasons, as reported by Basketball Insiders, they’ve sorely needed depth up front with Tyler Hansbrough entering unrestricted free agency.

Canadian Cory Joseph of Pickering, Ont., announced on Sunday that he would also be joining Toronto.

Scola’s decision means the Pacers three top post players from last season – David West, Roy Hibbert and Scola – are no longer with the team.
