The record – the band’s final LP – was known as “The White Album” because of its all-white sleeve with no text or graphics except for the band’s name embossed.
This photo provided on Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, shows a drum kit that Ringo Starr used to record some of the Beatles’ early hits, sold for $2.2 million at an auction to Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay.
Ringo’s Ludwig kit was used for over 200 performances, including records like I Want To Hold Your Hand, after the drummer took possession of it in 1963.
The lucky buyer is thought to be the owner of the American Football team Indianapolis Colts, Jim Irsay.
Isray also owns guitars from the other three members of The Beatles, Paul McCartney, the late George Harrison and the late John Lennon.
Ringo Starr has auctioned off the first ever copy of the The Beatles self-titled 1968 album, with the item selling for $910,000 (£600,000) at auction. The watch – which sold for $179,000, almost double its $80,000 estimate – was one of the few items on the block that didn’t need the benefit of Starr’s ownership to increase its value: As Bloomberg reported, Starr’s Patek Philippe wristwatch was incredibly rare, one of only 586 made, attracting watch enthusiasts more so than Beatles fanatics.
