Rashford rescues Man United with late winner

United manager Mourinho started with Rooney in the No. 10 role in a 4-2-3-1 formation but eventually switched the player to left midfield and did not substitute him until deep into stoppage time after Marcus Rashford’s 92nd-minute victor. “He’s 18-years-old”. The team was not playing with that intensity that we need and he was part of it.

“He’s different than (Wayne) Rooney, he’s different than Zlatan (Ibrahimovic), so everybody is happy with him and we’re happy with the squad”.

“If there is anything in the pipeline, then hopefully Joe will tell us ‘this may happen” and we can get ready for it’.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho believes that Marcus Rashford is proving his value to the side after the young striker scored the late goal that defeated Hull City on Saturday. “I loved it and hopefully there’s more to come”.

Rashford scored five goals in 11 league appearances last season and was a surprise inclusion in England’s World Cup squad after scoring on his global debut against Australia.

“In the two matches when we have needed a victor, against Leicester and today, he [Rashford] has done the job”, Man Utd manager Jose Mourinho said.

“It was an unreal feeling and even a few of the lads in there (the dressing room) said it was like taking them back to the old days when they sometimes used to get those smash-and-grab wins”.

“I think it will be good for him”.

“It’s important now that some decisions are made”, Phelan said. Some people said I was being selfish.

“Credit to my players tonight, they performed heroically”.

Phelan, who is hoping to sign goalkeeper David Marshall from Cardiff City, is desperately short of senior players, despite the return of defender Harry Maguire from injury.

“We’ve made a great start and we need to back that up now with some new players, just to give us a helping hand to take us on and further”.

Phelan confirmed Robert Snodgrass will have his injury assessed by Scotland’s medical staff after the winger was forced off against United due to a tight calf. “We tried to get at them a bit and we just ran out of steam”.
