Ravens plan to overcome injuries and rebound from 1-4 start

McCown and the Browns are coming off a thrilling 33-30 overtime victory over the AFC North rival Ravens, the type of game Cleveland is typically on the losing side of – and not just because it entered the matchup with a paltry 8-24 all-time record against the Ravens. “So I’ve got my fingers crossed right now”. He will be looking to have even more success in week six, but it would be another upset, because they are going up against the undefeated Denver Broncos at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio.

“They are as good as we’ve seen on tape this year, probably as good as I’ve seen in recent years”, McCown said. “I’m sure they feel the same way”.

“It’s been tremendous”, Pettine said. “We’ll be mindful of that”. “The game’s not until Sunday, so he’s logged enough reps”. Although the Ravens will not use the injuries as an excuse, it has caused both sides of the ball to play worse and is a major factor to the Ravens 1-4 start, which does not look like it will get better any time soon.

He can’t be so brazen against the Broncos or they’ll make McCown pay. It was still like I’ve been there the whole time.

Things better turn around quick for the Ravens if they want to prevent that from happening. This type of penalty shouldn’t happen often when you have a veteran quarterback under center. “But again, we have to trust our ability to go out and execute as well”. “He’s a guy you root for, but a big thing to talk about is understanding how well we’re playing around him”.

“The coaches have put in a good plan for us, so you don’t buckle up and go, ‘oh, well, we’re playing the No. 1 D.’ We are and it’s going to be a huge, huge hill to climb”. The Browns attempted a two-point conversion after the four-play, 79-yard drive, but it failed with McCown’s pass being tipped by a defender.

“I played in the UFL for crying out loud”, he said Sunday. “He can do it all”.

You can call McCown old, slow, and even inaccurate. Safety Tashaun Gipson (ankle), who did not play last week, didn’t practice Wednesday and neither did linebacker Craig Robertson (ankle), who has missed the past two games. The Browns continually give up one or two big runs per game.

“It’s like a second home”, Ward said.

Fantasy Owners: Find this guy, pick this guy up. But you do have to give the Browns’ front seven credit for stiffening when it mattered. The Broncos have been outplaying their opponents’ offensive lines this year. A lack of pressure on the quarterback is a factor in the Browns having no interceptions in their past four games.

“I felt like if I went back out there I possibly could have damaged it more”, Forsett said. “Thankfully, it got nullified”.

“The key word you just said was “Everybody” wrote me off”, he said. McCown didn’t start strong, but the veteran went above and beyond to secure a victory in a hellacious day for Browns fans. “And that’s cool and everything, but I try not to get caught up in it. I’m trying to just worry about this week now because that’s over with”.

As incredible as McCown has been this year, he’ll have his work cut out for him this Sunday. Flacco did the best he could and unless Steve Smith comes back soon or Baltimore acquires a playmaker, he will continue to have mediocre performances. “That’s why it’s important for us to emphasize the pass protection, but part of it is Josh, too”.

Barnidge did have a few chances when Cameron missed time with head and shoulder injuries, and he delivered by hauling in all 13 of the catchable passes thrown his way while scoring twice in 2014. Lewis and Reed retired, 350-pound tackle Haloti Ngata was traded to Detroit in March and sack-specialist Terrell Suggs is lost for the season with a torn Achilles tendon.
