In addition… isolated tornadoes can’t be ruled out over northeast Florida and southeast Georgia tonight and Wednesday morning.
Sept 13 Tropical Storm Julia, the tenth of the season, has formed along the coast of northeast Florida, the National Hurricane Center said on Tuesday.
Julia, the 10th named storm of the 2016 Atlantic hurricane season, is expected to weaken to a tropical depression by late Wednesday as it moves 8 miles per hour (20 kmph), the center said.
The storm brought moisture to the Tampa Bay area on Tuesday, Deskins said, increasing the area’s chance of rain between 50 and 60 percent for Wednesday and 40-50 percent for Thursday.
RAINFALL: Julia is expected to produce 3 to 6 inches of rain near the northeast Florida, Georgia, and SC coastlines through Friday afternoon.
Downtown Jacksonville and Fernandina Beach can expect winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour with gusts up to 45 miles per hour, the National Weather Service reports.
Tropical Storm Warnings are now in effect along the coast of Georgia and northern Florida.
“We’ve had tropical storm-force wind gusts in St. Augustine to Vilano Beach”, said First Coast News meteorologist Mike Prangley.
The Hurricane Center also said an isolated tornado was possible across coastal Georgia and southern SC on Wednesday.
Between 3-6 inches of rain could fall with local amounts of 10 inches.
Spaghetti models are in general agreement that T.S. Julia will continue northward in northeastern Florida tonight and southeastern Georgia on Wednesday.
