Cabrera went 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.

Kiermaier is hitting.236/.307/.447 with nine doubles, five homers and six steals this season, but his value with the glove can not be overestimated.

Zimmermann may have left with an injury, but he was dominant beforehand.

Zimmermann left with two outs in the top of the sixth inning due to a right groin strain.

Tampa Bay Rays center fielder Kevin Kiermaier is scheduled to undergo hand surgery on Tuesday and is expected to miss eight to 10 weeks, the Tampa Bay Times reported. He didn’t walk anybody and struck out three while allowing two runs.

“There were really good approaches by the Tigers”, Rays manager Kevin Cash said.

Cabrera led off the bottom of the third with a homer to center, and Cameron Maybin’s two-run single made it 6-2. The Rays got their best shot at Zimmermann in the second inning, getting both their runs on a home run by Logan Morrison. Brad Miller hit a two-run triple in the eighth for Tampa Bay, then scored on a passed ball.

Here we go again.

The 26-year-old Kiermaier suffered the injury on Saturday this week in an attempt to make a diving catch on a James McCann fly to shallow center and immediately came off the field before trainers could even reach him on the outfield grass.

Moore will be in the starting lineup Monday when Tampa Bay visits the in-state National League rival Miami Marlins. The Tigers optioned VerHagen to Triple-A Toledo after Sunday’s game. They put up two runs in the first, a run in the second, and a three-spot in the third. Ausmus said Buck Farmer is being called up.
