It was originally called a left leg injury, but was since clarified to a hamstring.

Florida State (4-0, 2-0 in the ACC), which has won 26 conference games in a row, was coming off a 15-day layoff since winning at Boston College.

With the rain potentially wreaking havoc on the offenses, I expect the Seminole running game to command the pace of play.

Midway through the third quarter, there wasn’t much indication that Hunter would even be in position for late-game heroics.

ACC rivals clash in Winston-Salem when the Wake Forest Demon Deacons host the Florida State Seminoles at 3:30PM ET.

FSU gained only 35 yards on the ground after Cook left the game, but the Seminoles managed to survive in a too-close-for-comfort win on the road.

FSU spent the night beleaguered by penalties, drawing 10 flags for a total of 100 yards.

“To me, the most important word in sports…is confidence”, Fisher said.

Still, Fisher was in no mood to apologize for a win, especially with Cook, Smith and Andrews in street clothes.

Earlier, Cook’s 94-yard touchdown run in the first quarter set a stadium record for longest run from scrimmage, delighting thousands of Florida State supporters who made their way north on a damp and windy day. Receivers and tight ends touched the ball more than running backs by about a 3/2 ratio. He finished with 104 total yards (94 rushing, eight receiving) and a score. You can count on one hand how many times FSU has called a rollout for Golson this season.

“We’re 4-0, so we’re happy”, Ramsey said. Next guy up. That’s life. In games like these against powerhouse programs, the key is to take advantage of solid defense on downs 1 and 2, then force a punt to get the ball back.

With injuries piling up FSU saw a number of players take advantage of increased opportunities. His replacement, Johnathan Vickers, added a 9-yard touchdown run, and Everett Golson was 20 of 31 for 202 yards with a 5-yard TD to Kermit Whitfield.

“We’ve got to play better in first and second down, they got us in third-and-short a lot. You’re not really anxious about touchdowns, you’re trying to make plays”.

Andrews, who was hurt on FSU’s second defensive series, was replaced by freshman defensive back Derwin James, who had five tackles by the end of the first half.

“Derwin got in there and did a nice job”, Fisher said.
