Beyonce dominated the MTV Video Music awards on Sunday, prowling the stage with a 15 minute medley from her powerful “Lemonade” album and taking home eight statuettes, including the top prize – video of the year.

Rihanna, who was given the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, worked her way through her multitude of hits, from “Please Don’t Stop the Music”, to “Work” and “Diamonds”. I can’t be mad, I’m always wishing for Beyoncé to win, so. He talked about his “Famous” video, which features what appear to be naked images of himself, his wife Kim Kardashian, Swift, Donald Trump and others.

In total, this year’s VMAs were not honoring mischief, or excellence, or the intersection of the two – just fame. Instead, various entertainers were enlisted to cover the show. DJ Khaled, recent Saturday Night Live star Jay Pharoah and comedienne Nicole Byer also took part in the coverage.
