Read Tim Duncan’s heartfelt goodbye letter to fans
Duncan, who turned 40 in April, announced his retirement Monday. Sure, there’s the Riverwalk and the Alamo, but there’s nothing San Antonio loves more than its Spurs.

Even if Duncan isn’t around the Spurs in a coaching capacity, he had enough time to make an impression on the young players who will carry forward one of major sports’ most consistently winning franchises. “It’s appreciated, but I just didn’t want to watch it”. “His devotion to excellence and mastery of the game led to five National Basketball Association championships, two regular-season MVP awards and a place among the all-time greats, while his understated selflessness made him the ultimate teammate”, National Basketball Association commissioner Adam Silver said. The duo only lost in the Finals once, and that was in 2013 a year before they won their last ring together.
Like what most fans and professional athletes had previously said, Duncan is the epitome of a flawless player.
It was the flawless sendoff for Duncan, one of the greatest players of all time, who managed at once to be larger than life and the quiet guy next door. In his career finale, he scored 19 points, with five rebounds and a block as he played the entire fourth quarter without a rest.
Harrison, 21, averaged 18.5 points, 4.9 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 46 games this past season for the Iowa Energy, the Grizzlies’ NBA Development League affiliate.
“Congrats to Tim Duncan. Probably a top 5 all time player and undoubtedly a top 5 all time teammate”, tweeted Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who played with Duncan in San Antonio. As the season passed Duncan’s stats grew. His decline in stats can be attributed to the offense running through Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker.
Duncan is leaving. Other than that, nothings changing.
“For two decades Tim represented the Spurs, the city of San Antonio and the league with passion and class”. He kept it low key, and his coach appreciated that. With Duncan’s National Basketball Association tenure now an object of the past, regret is beginning to set in for those players who weren’t lucky enough to call themselves Duncan’s teammate. “But his teammates have and that’s why his teammates love him”.
Tim Duncan retires as the best power forward to play the game of basketball – by a lot. Even though his production, stat-wise, wasn’t the same, we won 67 games because he still was the center of everything that we did at both ends of the court, even though other people scored more.

I moved to San Antonio in 2003, when I was two years old, and the first connection I made in this city was with the Spurs.
