President Obama has not been at shy about his aggressive stance on gun control, but during his statement in response to the shooting in Oregon he said, “We don’t yet know why this individual did what he did and it’s fair to say that anybody who does this has a sickness in their minds”. According to NBC News, under the proposed executive action anyone who sells 50 to 100 guns every year would be considered “in the business” of selling guns and have to adhere to laws that apply to gun dealers such as conducting background checks on buyers.

In the wake of the Oregon shooting, Obama is now “seriously considering” using his executive power to change that rule and implement other restrictions on gun rights. “I’ve got to have a Congress, and I’ve got to have state legislatures and governors, who are willing to work with me on this”. So it stands to reason that the CDC would also research the public health issues surrounding gun violence.
But that was all last week.
Obama’s impending flip-flop is reminiscent of his about-face on immigration.
Sheriff Clarke told Fox News’ Sean Hannity earlier this week that he believes President Obama wants to do just that. “Then bam, on November. 20, (2014) he comes out with his executive action”. It is one of a number of areas where Obama has bypassed Congress.
Senate Democrats unveiled plans on Thursday for gun control reforms that include closing background check loopholes, expanding the background check database, and tightening regulations on illegal gun purchases. The people peddling these talking points have clearly never tried to buy a gun. “That statute is pretty clear”. “So there are methods out there for a person to obtain a firearm without a background check”.
They also said they would seek to add all domestic abusers to the list of those prohibited from purchasing firearms, and make it a federal offense to be a straw purchaser, or someone who buys a firearm for somebody else. “All were traced to a federal firearms dealer”, said Celinez Nunez, an agent with the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Forty-seven years later, America leads the world in the number of mass shootings per year per capita.
The new legislation builds on a failed proposal introduced in 2013 following the Newtown shooting.
What’s more, both attacks are alleged to have taken place while President Barack Obama visited families of the people who died in Roseburg last week.
“The president has argued that states with the toughest gun control policies experience less violent crime”, he continued. “Unless the American people make their voices heard, the gridlock on this issue will not change”.

“The American people are crying out for action”, he said. Next, the left pivoted to background checks. It’s unnecessary. It’s already regulated under the statute.
