Ready for ‘that moment.’ (Roll call at the DNC.)

Even before he took the stage, Sanders was pushing his supporters to line up behind Clinton.

Democrats have become accustomed to having the best speech at their quadrennial convention given by someone named Obama.

The furore was a blow to a party keen on projecting stability in contrast to the volatility of Republican candidate Donald Trump, who was formally nominated at a raucous convention last week, and overshadowed preparations in Philadelphia for Clinton’s coronation as the nominee to face Trump in the November 8 USA presidential election.

Darrell West, vice president and director of governance studies at the Brookings Institution, told Xinhua that it is hard to see Sanders’ supporters voting for Trump, given his controversial attitudes toward women and minorities as Trump has compared Mexicans to rapists and called for a ban on Muslims entering the United States.x Instead, the greater risk to Clinton is those voters who will not vote or will cast a ballot for Stein, if that happens in large numbers.

Recently leaked emails showed party officials working to undermine Sanders’ campaign during the primaries.

Afterward, even after Sanders spoke, some could still be heard yelling in the arena concourse, accusing the Democratic Party of election fraud. Other planned to keep up the public displays of displeasure. That’s what the corporate media wants. In a round-table interview with Bloomberg Politics, he said he still thinks his delegates should be able to vote for him during the floor vote. On the first day of the Democratic convention she seemed less popular than even Donald Trump in Philadelphia.

“Wow, the Republican Convention went so smoothly compared to the Dems total mess”, he wrote on Twitter.

Good morning, and welcome to Tuesday, the second day of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

Other joke tellers chose to go with the quite apparent electronic communications angle, a call-back to Clinton’s troubles over her private email account while serving as Secretary of State.

“Brothers and sisters, this is the real world that we live in”, he said, adding: “Trump is a bully and a demagogue”.

Members of the crowd screamed back: “So is Hillary”.

While asserting “our revolution continues”, Sanders argued that on issues of poverty, immigration, environmental protection and more, Clinton’s election counts.

As Hillary Clinton works to win over Bernie Sanders supporters, her campaign has hired a senior Sanders aide to lead outreach efforts with progressive groups and activists. “I could never vote for Hillary Clinton”.

In roasting heat, spirited protests unfolded outside, another echo of the Republican convention in Cleveland.

Sanders was among those due to speak on the first evening of the Democratic convention.

Sanders lost to Clinton in the primary handily. Clinton announced her pick of Virginia Sen.

Early speakers pleaded for unity among the competing supporters. “We have to try to get Bernie Sanders nominated”, she said. The comment was met with raucous applause that later turned into competing chants of “Hillary” and “Bernie” (to Silverman’s apparent chagrin).

Sanders had called on his flock to get behind Clinton twice on Monday before his primetime endorsement speech. He said the protesters at the convention had a right to stay. “I worked for Bernie for nine months”, he said.

Last but not least, Sanders was the catalyst that pushed out Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who was widely disliked by the Democratic base.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange told NBC he would not reveal the source that provided the hacked emails.

Wasserman Schultz was heckled and booed at a Monday breakfast with delegates from her home state of Florida.

Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren thanked Sanders, saying, “Bernie reminds us what Democrats fight for everyday”.

Both have called for the end of privately-run immigrant detention centers, both have denounced the recent raids on young Central American migrants seeking asylum in the US and both have called for a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants living in the USA – leaving both candidates far to the left of the present administration and even farther away from Trump, who has proposed deporting all 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the USA and building a massive wall along the country’s border with Mexico.
