It’s a statue of Pikachu that was apparently recently erected in honor of the popular “Pokemon Go” game and its fans in New Orleans.

Yet no one has come forward to take credit for the monument, which is now located in a park on Terpsichore Street between Prytania and Coliseum. By Monday morning, people passing by it in the lower garden district weren’t sure what to make of it.
ABC News has reached out to the New Orleans Police Department for comment. “It’s awesome someone took the time to make this”.
The maker of the statue remains a mystery, and it is not clear exactly when the creation was put in place in the disused fountain. One day it wasn’t there. The association has no official jurisdiction over the space and any ultimate decision will be up to the city, Reese said, but she said she sees it as an asset.
Pikachu takes over New Orleans. “Right now, it’s a defunct fountain”.
According to the CSA, the fountain the monument sits in hasn’t been functional since the ’80s, though there’s been a recent push to raise money to get it and other fountains like it in the area working again. So as long as it’s sitting here without any water flowing, it’s OK with me.

Seriously, it’s a giant Pikachu statue. In spite of all these things, the fandom of Pokemon continues to grow these days, and the non-approved Pikachu statue could very well serve as an example to this Pokemon phenomenon.
