Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid received Federation Internationale de Football Association transfer ban
Real Madrid said this Thursday in a statement published on the club’s website.

With Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid both banned from signing new players for the next two transfer windows, the two clubs are likely to shut their exit doors too.
Federation Internationale de Football Association said Madrid and Atletico violated “several provisions concerning the global transfer and registration of minor players”. It said the punishments – which included fines of 900,000 Swiss francs ($900,000) for Atletico and 360,000 Swiss francs for Real Madrid – highlight the success of efforts to protect the rights of underage players.
Barcelona are the flawless example for their rivals in the capital to follow, having delivered five trophies in 2015 in a year they were banned from registering new players.
Club president Enrique Cerezo also commented, “we will have to read all 110 pages of the report to see where the mistakes are, but we believe there are many”.
The ban puts the clubs’ headline stars in limbo, given it significantly changes their short-term outlook, which relies on the ability to dive into the transfer market equally for both teams.
Barcelona has just ended a one year ban for similar reasons.
Under global football rules, players under 18 can not be transferred to another country, except in limited circumstances and all transfers need the approval of a special Fifa committee.
Just weeks after taking over as manager of Real Madrid, Zinedine Zidane (left) faces a potential 14 month transfer ban. However, with the ban being suspended while the appeals were ongoing, Barca were able to sign six players, including Luis Suarez, in the summer of 2014.
Chelsea were banned in 2009 for signing Gael Kakuta from Lens but it was overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport and Sanchez insists that some Premier League clubs are already under investigation. However, both clubs may register new players during the current transfer window until it closes on February 1.
