“We can all debate who’s better, and I constantly change my mind depending on what latest wizardry each one unleashes, ” Piers Morgan tweeted.

The goal, which was applauded by a number of Juventus fans, helped Real thrash Juve 3-0 in the quarter-final first leg.

Marcelo applied the coup de grace in the 72nd minute as he switched passes with Isco and then Ronaldo before rounding Buffon to score into an empty net.

The second leg of the game will take place on April 11 at the Santiago Benabeu, Real Madrid’s home.

He has now scored 16 goals in his past 10 Champions League games – 14 goals this season and a double in last year’s final against Juventus.

Ronaldo nearly grabbed a hat-trick and although Juve escaped further damage they face an almost impossible task in next week’s return.

Jesus Navas’ own goal cancelled out Pablo Sarabia’s opener and Thiago Alcantara headed in the victor for Bayern in the 68th minute.

Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring as early as the third minute before doubling the lead with a spectacular overhead kick.

Both sides continued to have chances after the break.

The free-kick from Dybala deflected off the wall and dropped just wide of the top-left corner, with Navas wrong-footed.

“Let’s hope everything will be different (from Cardiff)”, Juventus captain Gianluigi Buffon told the Spanish sports daily Marca.

At the age of 33, Ronaldo no longer has the pace or much impact minute to minute in a match.
