Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane insists his side were made to work hard after a Champions League semi-final victory over Manchester City in which the opponents registered just one shot on target.

Cape Town – Eliaquim Mangala has told Manchester City they can get revenge on Real Madrid by reaching next season’s Champions League final.

“I’m disappointed because that was a very close game and I think Real Madrid were very lucky with the goal as it was a cross but we didn’t create too many chances”, said Pellegrini.

Gareth Bale believes he has turned a corner at Real Madrid after leading the Spanish giants to their second Champions League final in his three years at the club.

“Neither of the two teams deserved to win the game”, Pellegrini said. “Obviously not at a fitness level because I’ve been out for a while, but I did a good job for the team and we’re in the final which was the aim in the end”.

Hart said: “We turned up to win the game, we turn up to win every single game”. Missing David Silva, [Samir] Nasri and Yaya [Toure] coming from an injury, we didn’t have creative players to make a difference.

“We had chances through [Luka] Modric and myself, and it was the kind of game we had to kill off”.

City lost captain Vincent Kompany with an apparent muscle injury less than 10 minutes into the match, the latest injury to plague the defender this season.

The move proved a sole highlight in a dour game, won 1-0, by the Spaniards, who progressed through to the final against cross-town rivals Atletico Madrid.

“We knew we’d have to score”.

“When you get to the semifinals you always want more so we’ll certainly try to get our revenge next year”.

“We’re very excited to get to the final”. We tried, but we couldn’t.

Ronaldo was looking to equal his own record of 17 Champions League goals in a season, but sent his first chance well over the bar with a header from Dani Carvajal’s cross.

“The reason I came here was to win Champions Leagues”.

“I’m very happy but not just for myself”.

“Some like it more, some like it less, but I have no doubt that I’m already in the history of football”.
