Real Minas Tirith From Lord of the Rings
A team of British architects and Tolkien fans have launched an Indiegogo campaign to try and raise funds to build Minas Tirith in real life.

The insane amount of money required wasn’t just pulled out of the sky. So yes, if the Minas Tirith campaign were to succeed, it would become the biggest crowdfunding project by a massive margin. They have broken it down for potential donors on the “Realize Minas Tirith” Indiegogo page.
“In order to realise this unbelievable dream, we have calculated our required budget to be in the region of £1.85bn”.
Jonathan Wilson and his colleagues are “fully aware of the scale of [their] ambition”, and are seeking £1.85 billion for the project, which would be divided for land, labour and materials. The rest of the money will go towards maintenance, public services and keeping the facilities in tact until 2053, according to Time.
If you find yourself somewhere in the middle of those two extremes, fear not – there’s something for everyone.
For those who think this seems like a good idea, £15 gets your name on a special Minas Tirith monument once it’s all built, while £1,720,000 entitles you to a luxury four-bedroom penthouse. So far, it’s raised only about £20,000 toward that goal, so the likelihood of this Minas Tirith coming to be is very small.
If the group doesn’t reach its goal of $3 billion in 60 days, all donations will be canceled. “Please only donate within your means, and in the knowledge that this project is a light-hearted venture with virtually no chance of succeeding”, they noted.

Now we’re not sure how successful their campaign will be, but it does sound like a fun one and if you’re a fan of Lord of the Rings, perhaps this is a campaign worth checking out. Would you live or work there if you could?
