Reality TV Star Turned Presidential Candidate Donald Trump Mocked at the Emmys

Fantasy drama series “Game of Thrones” and comedy “Veep” proved repeat winners for cable giant HBO at the Emmy awards on Sunday, but newcomers and actors of color also made their mark in a ceremony where election-year politics played large. “We’re not mailing this to her. Maggie, if you want this, it will be in the lost and found”.

“I think Lyndon would be very happy to know that there is a real chance that we may have the biggest turnout in our nation’s history”, he said.

Her rivals included Game Of Thrones stars Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke and Maisie Williams, but the 81-year-old went on to land another Emmy to her bulging trophy cabinet – her third for her Downton role alone.

The multiple Emmy victor, who has never personally picked up her awards, also inspired Kimmel to come up with a new rule at the top of the ceremony.

ABC said that more detailed data would be available later on Monday that will better reflect the live show’s audience.

“Thanks to Mark Burnett, we don’t have to watch reality shows anymore, because we’re living them”, Kimmel said.

Dame Maggie has been nominated for nine Emmys since 1993, five of which as an Outstanding Supporting Actress in Downton Abbey, in which she plays the irascible Dowager Countess, Lady Violet.

The Outstanding Actress for a Drama Series is Tatiana Maslany of “Orphan Black“.

Oh sure, white men still won plenty of awards, but even host Jimmy Kimmel made some jokes about how the open acceptance of diversity wasn’t necessarily “good” for him. “It’s called the Maggie Smith rule”.

“Maggie, if you want this, it will be in the lost and found”, he quipped. Oh, and there was a second-straight win for Veep – a good show, but not so good that it needed to repeat.

On a night when politics played large in the midst of an extraordinary 2016 USA election campaign, Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus also won her fifth straight Emmy for her role in the satirical White House comedy. But she was also quick to add that “we have a long way to go”. Paulson actually brought Clark as her plus-1 and apologized to Clark in her speech for judging her all those years ago when she prosecuted O.J. Simpson for murder. Yang took the microphone first to thank the show’s cast and crew, but by the time he finished, the cue music began playing, and Ansari didn’t have any time to speak.
