Reasons Why Ivanka Stole the Show at the Republican National Convention

Ivanka Trump has become a central figure in her father’s quest for the White House. And she criticized the idea that high-value female employees should be “shut out” of the workplace when they get pregnant rather than being supported and encouraged – and still compensated, she implied – as part of a more enlightened private sector ethos.

During the final night of the Republican National Convention, Ivanka Trump, the accomplished, graceful, and by-all-accounts brilliant daughter of Donald Trump, took the stage and introduced her father as the Republican nominee.

Trump relayed this message beautifully, not just through her excellent speech, but through her look as well. Her father is. And as soon as Donald Trump took the mic, the sun set, and the anger and vitriol rose. “And now he is the people’s nominee!” It is at least as true today as it was a decade ago that for women in America, “the greatest barrier to economic equality is children”.

She said that he is “colorblind and gender neutral”, and has thrived in his business because “he listens to everyone”. “When Donald Trump is in charge, all that counts is ability, excellence and effort”. And while she might not be able to flip votes, she could very well solidify support for her father. “I also know how privileged I am”, she said, carefully maneuvering the topic.

Other politicians see these hardships and say, I feel for you.

“He is not gender specific in his criticism of people and people that he doesn’t particularly like or people he likes that he thinks are wrong on a particular issue”, Ivanka told CNN’s Poppy Harlow when faced question over his past treatment of women.

Trump wore another Ivanka Trump design earlier this week at the RNC.

Libby Wuller, who recently attended a party hosted by RightNOW Women’s PAC, which works to get Republican women into office, said although she is no fan of Trump and his rhetoric about women, she is impressed with Ivanka. “She’s a strong, independent woman, she’s a huge success, both within our company as well outside our company”.

“As president, my father will change the labor laws that were put in place at a time when women weren’t a significant portion of the workplace, and he will focus on making quality childcare affordable and accessible for all”, Ivanka Trump said. Though she didn’t come right out and say that he favors imposing mandatory paid family leave on employers and offering government-subsidized child care, it wasn’t hard to hear a call for just those policies in the subtext of her comments.

Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka listens to a speaker on the second day of the Republican National Convention on July 19, 2016 at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.

And, tonight, when she addresses the Republican convention, Ivanka, more than anyone else, might be the one to humanize her dad to skeptical voters.

“She probably keeps her thoughts to herself a little more than her dad does”, Lurrs said.

Throughout my entire life I have witnessed his generosity towards others expically those who are suffering.
