Tesla, the American automotive and energy storage company that first manufactured a fully electric sports vehicle called the Tesla Roadster, has unveiled the cheapest electric auto model to date which is called the Tesla Model 3. Tesla delivered only 206 of the cars in the fourth quarter of previous year, and quality issues forced the company to limit production even more during part of January. Deliveries for the first quarter were up by almost 50 percent compared to the same quarter last year, with Tesla saying that it is still on track to fulfill its target of 80,000 to 90,000 units delivered within the year.

“Another company now provides center information displays for Tesla’s Model S and Model X”, source added.

Prospective buyers have filled the preorder form with a deposit of US$1,000 (1.1 million won), and they will receive the Model 3 in order after the release in 2017. Tesla shouldered part of the blame, with the statement noting the automaker’s “hubris in adding too much new technology to the Model X in version 1”. The parts shortages were limited to a half-dozen items in a vehicle with more than 8,000 pieces.

It was all very unfortunate, yes, but Tesla promises those issues are behind it. “Tesla is addressing all three root causes to ensure that these mistakes are not repeated with the Model 3 launch”, the company has promised.

PALO ALTO, California- Customer deliveries of the 2016 Tesla Model X SUV were significantly delayed in the first quarter due to severe supplier parts shortages and Tesla’s “hubris”, the automaker said on Monday.

Tesla’s new Model 3 is priced starting at $35,000 by Musk’s startup and had risen to 276,000 by the end of Saturday. “Tesla reaffirms its full-year delivery guidance”.
