That’s swell, but I’m way more excited about seeing her sing and dance with Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron.

The report goes on to reveal that Rebecca Ferguson has clinched the role of Swedish opera singer Jenny Lind, with Hugh Jackman primed to take point as P.T. Barnum.

“The Greatest Showman” has been in development since 2009.

Justin Paul and Benj Pasek, who were Tony-nominated for “The Christmas Story”, are writing original songs for the film. In 1850, she arrived in America for a tour at the invitation of P.T. Barnum, creator of the Greatest Show on Earth (a forerunner of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus).

The Swedish actress is known for her role in “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation” and “Florence Foster Jenkins”.

Michael Gracey, who has a background in visual effects and commercial directing, is calling the shots on Showman, which is written by Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine).

What do you think of Rebecca Ferguson coming on board?

Ferguson, who broke out in “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation” a year ago – will next star in “The Girl on the Train”, due out October 7 from Universal.
