“The Ministry lodged a strong protest against the shelling”, the Foreign Office said.
“The terrorists hit 8,000 feet high Akhundwala Pass check post from across the Durand Line”, ISPR said.
Pakistan stated militants firing from Afghan territory killed 4 of its troopers alongside the border on Sunday, as tensions continued to rise between the neighbors.
Rockets were fired from the Afghanistan side of the border into the Khyber region, one of the seven semi-autonomous tribal regions where the Pakistan military has been battling the Taliban and Al-Qaeda militants for years.
The ministry said the Afghan ambassador expressed his condolences for the killing of the Pakistani soldiers and said he would convey Islamabad’s request for an investigation to Kabul.
“Pakistani troops befittingly responded and eliminated the group of terrorists”, the statement said.
He assured that Afghanistan attaches great importance to the security of Pakistani personnel and instructions in this regard had already been issued by the Afghan government to enhance their security.
