Even if it’s a small one, any fuel leak presents a viable fire hazard and requires addressing immediately.

The canister purge valve that keeps fuel vapors from escaping may not work properly in a few of these cars, causing internal pressure changes in the fuel tank, Ford said in a statement. That can eventually cause a crack on top of the tank and a possible fuel leak. They’ll also update the powertrain control module software. Registered owners should look for incoming mail related to the recall. All told, the recall affects 451,865 cars in North America: 411,205 registered in the USA, 33,605 in Canada, and 7,055 in Mexico.

Dealers will inspect the potential issue and, if necessary, fix it free of charge.

The trucks affected were built at Ohio Assembly Plant from July 29, 2015 through September 3, 2015.
