Record 15 million viewers tuned in for Democratic presidential debate
Martin O’Malley pointed out the contrast at the end: At the Democratic debate, there were no nasty words about undocumented immigrants, no calling someone out for his or her religious affiliation, or slurs about gender.

But Clinton’s strong performance in the first Democratic presidential debate Tuesday night appears to have given her a boost. “I will tell you right now, I will not be silenced and we will not be silenced – we must continue to speak out”.
Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a Floridian who heads the Democratic National Committee, also seemed to ignore the possibility of Biden joining the race. Andrew Prokop at Vox.com suggests that it may be because the press already knows Bernie Sanders quite well, and can no longer see the unique force of his appeal. And Hillary Clinton thinks she’s the person with the moral compass to determine what’s enough, and what’s excess. “I do support the use of medical marijuana, and I think even there we need to do a lot more research so that we know exactly how we’re going to help people for whom medical marijuana provides relief”, Clinton said.
It’s less clear, however, that Clinton’s apparent win actually boosted her level of support. “And people can trust me to fight for them as I have over the course of my career”.
She said in a June 2014 interview at the Council on Foreign Relations that she would be open to extending the timeline for US withdrawal from Afghanistan but it would depend upon “conditions on the ground and what was being asked for”.
It was a major topic during the debate, with Sanders laying out a plan for expanding it, and Clinton making the connection to women.
One thing is certain: after Bernie Sanders chose to avoid attacking Hillary over the email scandal or her wealth, he’s not at all serious about derailing this coronation. Not a single voter said Lincoln Chafee, the former governor of nearby Rhode Island, won.

NBC’s poll also shows Clinton has continued her solid lead over Sanders and Vice President Joe Biden, who will likely soon decide whether or not he’s going to enter the race.
